What is the most popular science fiction novel of the last 10 years?

I have some time on my hands and need something good to read.

Thanks in AdvanceWhat is the most popular science fiction novel of the last 10 years?
Here is a list of books in the 90's, although personally (not on the list) my favorite would be Eragon and its sequel Eldest

(3rd book coming out soon). Both by Christopher Paulini.

Steel Beach by John Varley (1992)

Beggars in Spain by Nancy Kress (1993)

Mirror Dance [S10] by Lois McMaster Bujold (1994)

The Terminal Experiment by Robert J Sawyer (1995)

The Star Fraction by Ken MacLeod (1995)

Idoru by William Gibson (1996)

Darwin's Radio by Greg Bear (1999)
Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series! Truly addicting! What is the most popular science fiction novel of the last 10 years?
There have been some really great sci fi books written in the past ten years, I would especially recommend:

Jonathan Strange %26amp; Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke

Paladin of Souls by Lois McMaster Bujold

and American Gods by Neil Gaiman

Happy reading! What is the most popular science fiction novel of the last 10 years?
Considering only science fiction (not fantasy), the only books I can remember hitting the best-seller lists are the Dune ripoffs and Orson Scott Card, but I wouldn't consider any of them at all good. David Weber's Honor Harrington series might have made it and is reasonably entertaining.

The last ten Hugo winners (which are voted on by fans and provide another measure of popularity) are:

Spin by Robert Charles Wilson

Jonathan Strange %26amp; Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke (fantasy)

Paladin of Souls by Lois McMaster Bujold (fantasy)

Hominids by Robert J. Sawyer

American Gods by Neil Gaiman (fantasy)

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J. K. Rowling (fantasy)

A Deepness in the Sky by Vernor Vinge

To Say Nothing of the Dog by Connie Willis

Forever Peace by Joe Haldeman

Blue Mars by Kim Stanley Robinson (third in a series)
