I definitely back "A Short History of Nearly Everything" as a front runner.
I would also suggest:
The Pleasure of Finding Things Out: The Best Short Works of Richard Feynman By R. P. Feynman
The Selfish Gene by R. DawkinsDoes anyone know any good (newish) popular science books to buy ?
A short history of nearly everything by bill bryson. Theres loads of science stuff in it.Does anyone know any good (newish) popular science books to buy ?
If you're feeling brave then try 'the road to reality' by Roger Penrose.
Don't believe the introduction when he says there is not too much maths in it! But if you stick with it there is some fascinating stuff.
