37 year old Trigonometry puzzle from Popular Science?

A man always drives at the same speed (his car probably has a governor on it). He makes it from A direct to C in 30 minutes, from A through B to C in 35 minutes, and from A through D to C in 40 minutes. How fast does he drive?

Here is a link to view a visual representation of the problem:

If you can solve this, please take the time to explain the process by which you went about in order to find the answer. Your time is much appreciated. Thanks37 year old Trigonometry puzzle from Popular Science?
The answer was actually published by Popular Science. Available in an old archive in Google books. There is actually more than one solution method -- good read.
