What effect do Forensic TV programmes (CSI) have on Forensic Science as a whole?

Due to many television programmes related to forensic science becoming increasingly popular - do they have a positive/negative effect on forensic science as a whole? Do the programmes (such as CSI, Waking the Dead etc) have a good/bad effect on forensic science as a whole?

Tell me what you think - all opinions welcome. What effect do Forensic TV programmes (CSI) have on Forensic Science as a whole?
Actual forensic science? close to zero, except for the kids who think CSI is real so get inspired to grow up to become lab geeks.

TV def. has an effect on juries though, making them think police can produce results or evidence that isn't possible.
