One of my friends is about to be a freshmen in undergrad and she obsessed with political sciences. She wants to be a lawyer in the future. She loves to read. I was wondering if anyone had any good simple gift ideas....like a great book to give....that is very popular with the political science students! Thanks! What would be a great gift for a Political Science major?
For someone that will be taking some pre-law classes, I would recommend "Simple Justice," by Richard Kluger. I had to read it in one of my legal writing courses, and it is very good. If she is more interested in the theoretical underpinnings of democracy and politics, I would buy "Multitude: War and Democracy in the Age of Empire," by Michael Hardt and Antonio Negri. Personally, my favorite authors are Zygmunt Bauman, and James Carroll, who wrote "Constantine's Sword." I love the last book; it goes into detail about the history of Christianity, and it's influences on the rise of western civilization. It also covers a lot of politics. Hope this helpsWhat would be a great gift for a Political Science major?
