What about them?
If you're looking for suggestions, The Dune series by Frank Herbert are a good read (although his style gets hard to push through towards the end) especially if you also read the Dune prequels by his Son Bryan and the end of the saga that Bryan wrote from his father's notes.
Starrigger, Red Limit Freeway and Paradox Alley by John DeChance is a fun series
Hitchhiker's guide to the Galaxy series up to and including "So Long and Thanks for all the Fish" are also fun and funny if you like British humor. Mostly Harmless however has that "Rocks fall, everyone dies" feel to it.Popular Science Fiction Books?
I really enjoy the Takeshi Kovacs books by Richard Morgan: Altered Carbon, Broken Angels, Woken Furies. They're kind of nior-ish action detective books (reminiscent of PKD) with interesting SF ideas about life/death/humanity. I love what he does with Martians.Popular Science Fiction Books?
Ender's Game - Orson Scott Card
The Caves of Steel - Isaac Asimov
both of these are excellent, and if you like them there are several more in each series
