Which modern popular science book on elementary particles (or high energy physics) could you recommend, please? Some math in it would be OK.Recommend popular science book on elementary particles?
QED: The Strange Theory of Light and Matter by Richard Feynman
It only deals with two of the particles: the photon and electron. But it will give you a good understanding of how quantum mechanics works that you will need to appreciate any of the more modern theories.
Deep Down Things: The Breathtaking Beauty of Particle Physics: Bruce A. Schumm
If you got through Feynman well then try this for a popular but description of the standard model. The author does use more maths than some, but it is more rewarding for having it.
